Sliced cheese and cold cuts cut outs (using cookie or sandwich cutters) or Cream Cheese And Veggies, inside onigri or rice balls that i make with my own hands (wet them before actually making those otherwise rice will stick to your hands and make a mess) I don’t know who likes it best, my 10 year old or my 20 year old son!

I love using frozen peas to fill in the “spaces” in the bento. Plus, since they are frozen, they keep the bento cold.

My favorite ingrident for bento are cocktail sausages. I slice little lines in each of them until I get 8 tentacles. It’s both cute and delicious!

P.S. I place black sesame seeds on them for eyes sometimes to spice it up. Thanks for letting me enter!

Do you have access to a micwvraoe? I bring all kinds of leftovers to work and to school with me. I’ve started making enough to have two sets of leftovers to put in the fridge and two sets to put in the freezer. That way, I don’t get bored with eating the same thing for five days in a row, and next week when I think, hey, that dinner was really good! I can just pull out a serving from the freezer. It’s been working really well for the past four weeks or so. The trick is to get good containers. I’m a fan of the pyrex dishes which are glass but have a plastic lid with an optional steam vent. I don’t like to cook my food in plastic in the micwvraoe. Ugh.

Don’t feel dumb! A “Bento” is basically the Japanese eevluaiqnt of an American “Sack Lunch”. However, it’s usually in a box/container, and moms love to make them with fun food shapes, designs, toothpicks, etc…There are a lot of women who spend quite a bit of time to make beautiful lunches for a spouse or kids. Gourmet Dad lived in Japan for 2 years and I studied Japanesse for 6 years, so we’re fans of bentos.:) Hope that helps!

THANK YOU Car_O!! :) Yes, I do pack bentos for myeslf. Most of the time I don’t put too much thought into the presentation of my own food, and as such, I don’t take many photos of my own.You can see some of my own bentos in lunches the review I did for EasyLunchboxes just a couple weeks ago and I’m pretty sure I’ve posted one of mine in a Laptop Lunches box too. :) I think if I packed my lunch in a Lock & Lock box or a Sassy box I’d still be pretty hungry after – but bigger adult-sized boxes are definitely adequate for me. I’ve really been enjoying the size and ease of using the EasyLunchboxes. I’ll make an effort to take more pictures of my lunches. :) I do not have a local store. I get a lot from Amazon (with my Prime membership I get free shipping on just about everything – who can beat that?!). The more Japanese bento-authentic supplies are from ebay, my friend in CA who shops for me, and from orders I had placed with an online bento store that is no longer in business (IchibanKan).
